Fundraiser for the purchase of a residencefor the Synod of Bishops

On November 10, 2011, the Synod of Bishops resolved: to Bless the start of raising funds for the purchase of a residence for the Synod. To that end, address everyone in our clergy and flocks and ask them toactively participate in this necessary work.

Deal on purchase of the Synod's House has been accomplished.

March 7, 2014 a purchase of Synod house near Tolstovskoy farm in the State of New York, United States, has been accomplished. Documents on behalf of Synod were signed by Archbishop Andronik. 

Bless the Lord all contributors on this necessary to ROCA deal! Let it not be a significant event from the point of view of the mighty of this world. However, all the same, this is our little victory, which we have achieved thanks to the solidarity and sacrifice. Our faithful parishioners showed that not only they could set a goal, but that they can achieve those goals as well. And it's not so little by the standards of the time.

On September, 20th, 2013, accompanied by a real estate agent, Metropolitan Agafangel and archpriest Gregory Kotlaroff have stopped a choice on the house which is located on the street leading to the Tolstoy Farm, a five minute walk away. Cost of the house is 305 000 dollars. Considering the funds collected by us, this purchase is quite possible. We will have to repay the loan within next 10 years, but having assigned the hopes on the God, our true parishioners and activity of our community at the Synod house in honour of Wives Myrrh-Bearers, we hope to cope with these difficulties.

Council of Bishops Of The Russian Orthodox Church Abroad 

We appeal to all our faithful children to respond to the needs of our Church.

Five years we have lived without the places where the Synod can be located. This had a negative impact on the development of our Church. It is clear that our church life, unfortunately, gradually fades, because there is no center that would coordinate and contribute to the development in the right direction.

Our Synod decided to start raising funds for the acquisition of premises in New York, in the community of Russian immigrants, which could accommodate the Synod and the Synodal home church, which would allow regular worship. Some of the money has already been collected, but it is not enough to buy the desired building.

Therefore, we appeal to all of you with a call to donate for this good and essential work. We will be happy if we can establish regular donations as buying property involves long-term repayment of the loan and the running costs for its maintenance (light, water, etc.).

Church wide cause - the cause for each of us: bishops, priests and parishioners. We, the bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, bless fundraising and ourselves will include regular contributors to this cause. We encourage all the clergy and parishioners to follow our example. We believe that with God's help, together, we will accomplish our goal.

From the ROCA First Hierarch Metropolitan Agafangel

to all faithful members of the Church Abroad

Dear brethren Archpastors, honorable pastors and God-loving laypeople!

I address all of you with the blessing of our Synod of Bishops.

All of you are aware that in defiance of the will of the body of theRussian Orthodox Church Abroad, those who decided to join the ranks ofthe Moscow Patriarchia made sure ahead of time to surrenderpractically everything that our devout ancestors were able to amassand build for the all the years of the existence of the ROCA. OurSynod, as a result, was left without any property. The RussianOrthodox Church Abroad now needs a building in which its Higher Authority, the Synod of Bishops, can be situated. This will serve asthe administrative center of our Church, its "headquarters," without which our future development cannot even be imagined.

I hope that our common need will resonate in the heart of every bishop, priest and layperson. As Christians, we must show by our deeds that we are ready to answer to the needs of our entire Church.

I call upon each of us to help our Church as much as possible.

With this appeal, I bless all of our bishops, priests and laypeople togather donations for this virtuous undertaking in the ways traditional to the Church Abroad - collect donations after services, establish donation boxes in parishes, create signature lists and simply donateto the Synod account. Information about all donations will bepublished in accordance with Orthodox tradition on the Internet website of our Synod, as well as in our official publications, the magazines "Church Life" and "The Russian Zoar."

Your Excellency!

Pursuant to the decision of the Synod of bishops to raise funds for the purchase of the Synod House should make arrangements for such collection:

1. Publish a decree by his diocese, which appeal to all the fathers of the Holy congregations to do regular collections in their parishes.

2. To encourage all the clergy and parishioners of the diocese to make a donation in person.

3. Announce this from the pulpit in the church and post an announcement in church.

4. Place the mug in every parish to raise funds for the needs of the Synod house.

THE CHRONICLE:

2014.04.13. After the Divine Liturgy on the Entry of Christ into Jerusalem, on Sunday 13 April, the parishioners of St. Sergius Church on the Tolstoy farm in the United States for the first time had a lunch in a recently purchased New Synod House. Archpriest Gregory Kotlarov held a prayer service and blessed the new building, in which by work and care of the head of the parish in honor of the Myrrh-Bearers Alexandra Tatyanenko organized a small repair and the purchase of necessary furniture and utensils. The first event was successful - parishioners enjoyed the time spend and stayed for a long time. Now it is necessary to improve the outside. Also the renovations of the Sunod House must continue.

Please donate for these needs, as well as for the payment of a loan for a house.

The Orthodox Cross was installed with a help of Tatyanenko and Vinyarsky families.

Community-Myrrhbearers equipped place to carry prayers. On October 18, 2014 the icon of Christ Vsederzhitelja was pasted.

Dear hierarchs and pastors, brothers and sisters!

Christ Is Risen!

All of you know, that as a result of the split in 2007, our church has lost control of all of its properties. Together with the property our church center has also lost a part of its independence, without anything of its own, it is forced to constantly reach out to others to carry out those or other religious needs.

After great difficulty and temptation Synod of Bishops was able to conclude a contract to buy a house, the value of which we now have to pay for another 19 years. Without the help of the whole Church we can not do this. We therefore ask all who care about the fate of the Russian Church Abroad, take responsibility for the monthly sacrifice, any feasible amount. We believe that with the help of God and the faithful Christians, this problem will be successfully solved.

ATTENTION! Recently, the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad Synod bank account was hacked. Thank God, there were no substantial sums on the account, however, many donations from our parishioners were blocked and returned to the donors. This is the second time the Synod of Bishops bank account has been hacked. It is obvious that both this attack, as well as the active propaganda against the acquisition of the Synod building property, is carried out in a focused and planned manner. We have filed an appeal with the police in the state of Connecticut. The First Hierarch of ROCA, Metropolitan Agafangel urges all the faithful of the ROCA to not hesitate due to the actions of our enemies, but rather to continue to support the Synod of Bishops, prayerfully and practically. Please watch for new information about our bank details.

At present, the previous account continues to work, but only to accumulate funds. When we open a new account, the money will be released and transferred to the newly opened account. Therefore, any donations received to the old account will not be wasted and will not be sent back. Donate to the needs of the Synod of Bishops!
