The Visit of the Administrator of the North American Administrative District, Archimandrite Andronik, to Jordanville
On August 13 and 14, 2007, on the eve of Dormition Lent, the Administrator of the North American Administrative District, Archimandrite Andronik (Kotlyarov), paid a pastoral visit to the brothers of the Holy Trinity monastery in Jordanville. Archimandrite Andronik was accompanied on this trip by Fr. Sergey Serzhanov (from the Church of St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco in New York) and Galina Vladimirovna Volkova (the secretary of the Church of St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco in San Francisco).
The brothers of the Holy Trinity monastery and the nuns of the Righteous Martyr St. Elizabeth Fedorovna warmly greeted the guests and shared their opinion of the past event – the merging of a part of the bishops and clergy of ROCOR with the Moscow Patriarchate. As a gesture of their disagreement with the course chosen by Metropolitan Lavr (which led to a schism in ROCOR, as a result of the actions of Met. Lavr and his followers), the brothers and sisters gave valuable gifts to the newly-formed parish of St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco in San Francisco, which will be used during church services in the new parish.
Archimandrite Andronik served a panikhida in the burial crypt of Metropolitan Philaret (Vosnesenskiy), commemorating Metropolitan Philaret (Vosnesenskiy), Archbishop Averkiy (Taushev), Archimandrites Vladimir and Methodius, Hierodeacons Methodius and Innokentiy, Brother Jose Munoz Cortes, and all those reposed there and Orthodox Christians everywhere.
During his trip, Archimandrite Andronik and those accompanying him also visited the residential church of the parish of the Mother of God and the Kursk-Root icon (whose parish priest is Archpriest Aleksey Mikrikov), and the residential church under construction by Fr. Nikita Grigoriev which will be dedicated to St. Nikita the Confessor. The challenges facing both parishes in establishing a parish life were discussed.
