At a meeting of parish representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad in July, 2007, at the Holy Trinity Church in Astoria, NY, His Eminence Bishop Agafangel called for the creation of an Assistance Fund, to answer the many needs of our Church.  Since then, the ROCA Assistance Fund has been established, become incorporated, and now has tax-exempt status.

In December, 2008, the Provisional Supreme Ecclesiastical Authority (PSEA) blessed the Assistance Fund to begin collecting donations for the Vth All-Diaspora Sobor, which will be held in the Fall of 2008.  This Sobor is essential for the restoration of the hierarchy of our church.  For such an important event to be successful, we need the help of all concerned to cover the expenses. 

 

That is why we are turning to you, dear Fathers, for help.  We need to begin a fund raiser by mail, but the Fund does not have sufficient monies to begin this work.  With the blessing of the ROCA PSEA, we ask that you conduct a plate collection on behalf of the Fund.  This will enable us to conduct a fund drive to cover the expenses of the Sobor.
